The Prof. Dr. Osvaldo Malafaia Award honors the editor who led ABCD for two decades (2001–2021) and recognizes, each year, the best original article published in the journal in the previous year. The selection is made by the competent committee appointed by the CBCD, based on the scientific quality of the papers, and the award is presented at an official ceremony with a medal and diploma.
There is no application: every original article published in ABCD automatically competes. The committee evaluates the methodological quality, originality and impact of each paper. In other words — just publish good work.
